Jon's Top Thirteen of 2013

1. Gravity
2. Upstream Color
3. The Place Beyond the Pines
4. Side Effects
5. To The Wonder
6. Before Midnight
7. Captain Phillips
8. Man of Steel
9. The World's End
10. Mud
11. World War Z
12. Prisoners
13. Stories We Tell

These next films are films of merit, but for me, did not make my top 13. They are...

Frozen, The Croods, Thor: The Dark World, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, The Way Way Back, The Lone Ranger, Ender's Game, The Wolverine, Iron Man 3, The Great Gatsby, Despicable Me 2, Elysium, Prince Avalanche, Kings of Summer, Francis Ha, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, Star Trek Into Darkness, The Wolf of Wall Street, Pacific Rim, Spring Breakers, Warm Bodies, Oz the Great & Powerful, Olympus Has Fallen.

Let me say, also, that had I been able to see more films, I'm sure my list would be better and more concise. As it is, I haven't been able to see some of the critically acclaimed films of this year, such as…

12 Years a Slave, Short Term 12, Inside Llewyn Davis, Her, Anchorman: The Legend Continues, Rush, Dallas Buyers Club, The Act of Killing, Fruitvale Station, The Spectacular Now, Blue Jasmine, Out of the Furnace, Nebraska, Oldboy, Blue Caprice, All is Lost, A Single Shot, Enough Said, The Wall, Like Someone in Love, From Up On Poppy Hill.

I do still plan on seeing these films and hopefully integrating them later on my list.
